About the Artist
Andrea Adamson is Pitjanjatjara artist from the APY Lands in South Australia. She paints the Seven Sisters story who created the landscape. She tells the story of the seven sisters as they travel through country while being pursued by Wati (Man) Nyiru. Nyiru saw the sisters as they travelled to the west. He fell in love with them, he was desperate to make them his. As the women fled from Wati Nyiru they created the country, the rockholes, sandhills and rocky outcrops as they tried to escape. The sisters now are represented in the sky by the constellation pleiades.
