Merrika – Clay & Ochre Scrub

We pick Merrika (Broad Leaved Wattle) leaves from the trees that grow in the bush and by the river. We boil the leaves and traditionally use them for treating sores, cuts, stings and skin rashes. We add to our Merrika Soothing Bush Medicine Scrub, the sweet smelling forest fragrance of Eucalyptus Essential Oil, known for soothing minor skin ailments.

About the Makers

We are Warnindilyakwa women of the Groote Eylandt Archipelago and speak our own language, Anindilyakwa. We hunt bush tucker and bush medicine and are proud of our culture. We use native produce as well as other materials to make our range of body products in our small not-for-profit indigenous enterprise and our sales support our business to grow stronger, for our women, our culture and our communities.
